Featured Volunteer Blog: Devon Goes to Ghana

Interested in volunteering in Ghana?

Devon Hamilton is currently volunteering on a 10-week project Ghana to complete the international placement component of Humber College’s International Development Management Studies program.

Devon is working with the YMCA and the Opportunities Industrialization Center (OIC) in Takoradi to increase awareness about the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Devon’s blog is an incredible resource including detailed descriptions of Takoradi, accommodations and the work her team is completing. Check out Devon’s blog about her team’s second MDG workshop.

“We surveyed the class to find out which specific MDGs they would like future workshops to focus on. They are most interested in MDG 6 (HIV/AIDs) although it seems there is some degree of interest in all of the MDGs with the exception of 7 and 8 (environmental sustainability and global partnership)…”

This winter there are a number of projects going overseas including an 8-week project in Ghana.
