YCI is Going to Mozambique

We are currently recruiting for our first volunteer team in Mozambique!

Youth Challenge International recently announced we are launching programs in Mozambique. We would like to take this opportunity now to share with you a little bit about our project location, Inhambane.

Inhambane is one of the oldest settlements on the East Coast of Mozambique, and was once an important port. Although large ships seldom use this as a port of call any longer, it still has the largest fleet of working dhows in the country.

The old quarter of town has the 170 year old Cathedral of our Lady of Conception where a sometimes shaky ladder leads to the top of the spire, offering grand views of town and harbour.

The beautiful, historical provincial capital is the perfect setting for our first project. It’s thriving development scene and its lively youth culture mix with picture perfect tourist destinations to make it the truly unique experience in Mozambique.

The pilot project will be designed to meet the needs of youth affected by poverty through the four integrated sectors YCI works in: livelihoods, health, leadership and the environment. The Mozambique pilot team will help scale YCI’s programming in East Africa, as we move forward in our expansion plans. This is the perfect opportunity for inspired and dedicated individuals who are interested in gaining skills and experience with new country expansion and setting up operations to launch a grassroots pilot program. We are thrilled to be recruiting a team of volunteers for the 6 week pilot project starting February 11th.
